Is there such a thing as a place to buy green house or hydroponic lettuce in the winter?

I live in Vermont. The lettuce that they sell in the grocery stores goes bad in just a couple days. I noticed that my lettuce and spinach from my garden lasts weeks in the fridge. Why is that?

Because by the time the lettuce etc is harvested, sold to the warehouses, shipped to the warehouses, distributed to the stores and finally make it to the sales floor, it is already well over a week old.
